Chart Legacy

In the UK, Yazoo enjoyed remarkable chart success: three of their four original singles reached the top three of the UK Singles Chart, and both albums made the top two of the albums chart (with You and Me Both entering at number 1). Upstairs at Eric's was certified Platinum by the BPI.

In the US, where they were known as Yaz (due to a £3.5 million trademark threat from Yazoo Records, a blues and jazz reissue label), "Situation" topped the Billboard Club Play Singles chart and reached number 73 on the Hot 100, while "Only You" climbed to number 67. Their combination of electronic instrumentation and soulful female vocals was particularly influential on the house music scene that emerged in the mid-1980s.

"Only You" has amassed over 192 million streams on Spotify, cementing its place as one of the most enduring synth-pop tracks of all time.
